Marlborough has been the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham’s principal Term Maintenance Contractor since 2011. In 2012 they started the 1st phase of a £5million, 3-year urban regeneration program. The program involved constructing a new architecturally designed thoroughfare, installing 1,000m2+ of new paving, street lighting and drainage and planting an array of trees in centre of the busy town centre.
In 2012, a new Technical Skills Academy was built next to the Market Square. As part of this project, a new Asda superstore and extensive residential development had to be considered during the construction period, this meant extensive planning and managing of restricted site access. Key challenges included: maintaining access, coordinating works with the town centre market, managing pedestrian access 7 days a week and managing timely delivery of materials.

Having an inhouse, multi-skilled team of more than 200 staff with local knowledge, as well as experienced Project Managers used to working on-site provided the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham with the project team structure, client support and backup they were looking for.
“One of the bonuses of working with Marlborough is they have their own, huge workforce of multi-skilled teams. That means we get the same 2 gangs understanding the job from start to finish and they understand the requirements and what it takes to get the job done”.
Graham Nicholls, Senior Project Manager, London Borough of Barking and Dagenham

“Over the last 25 years, I’ve worked with a lot of different contractors and Marlborough is one of the few companies that are passionate about delivery.
