Holcombe Market, Tottenham has a new floor mural thanks to Haringey Council, local traders and the Tottenham Team. Marlborough Highways has worked closely with Haringey Council to deliver the project as part of the ERDF funded ‘Reopening High Street Safely Funding’ programme to support the safe reopening of high streets and other areas.
The new floor mural is centred around the theme ‘Spaced Apart, Rooted Together’ and is a community project which has transformed the area. The design combines queuing and spacing roundels on a bright, attractive background that links the housing area to the east of Stoneleigh Road and the High Road.
The imaginative pavement design is the work of two local designers and once approved by everyone involved, Marlborough’s Road Marking Team worked with Haringey Council to carefully plan and install the markings, minimising disruption to local residents and traders. The thermoplastic floor mural was in around 300 sections due to its size and each piece was numbered to make it easier and quicker to position before being bonded to the pavement.
Marlborough worked with Haringey Council last year to install several ‘Thank you NHS’ road markings around Haringey. Holcombe Market project was similar but on a much larger scale and despite the forecast of rain the mural was installed on time and with minimal disruption.
