Marlborough Highways have been working on Lilian Close in Hackney, to replace faulty lanterns and columns following concerns from the residents about the lack of street lighting and reports of outages in the area.
The lanterns and columns were beyond repair, but they couldn’t just be replaced, as the area was inaccessible for the MEWP vehicles that are normally used for street lighting maintenance. Marlborough agreed with Hackney Council to replace all the existing columns with new, mid-hinged columns which are an ideal solution where access is difficult as they can then be installed without the use of a vehicle.
New DW LED Waterford Lanterns were also installed to light up the area using the latest LED technology, to help create energy savings in the borough. Marlborough have now completed the installation of the new columns and lanterns which has been very well received by the residents of Lilian Close.
