Marlborough deploys Econ Engineering gritters to keep communities moving through winter

Marlborough Highways started its first full Winter Maintenance programme in 2025, helping to keep communities in Southend-on-Sea and the London Borough of Havering moving safely through the colder months.

Supporting our partners and residents through winter conditions required a reliable and capable fleet of specialist vehicles designed to tackle challenging weather on busy urban networks. To meet this need, we partnered with Econ Engineering, the UK’s leading manufacturer of winter maintenance equipment, to supply the machinery needed to support our teams on the ground.

The new gritters have already played a central role in the success of our first Winter Maintenance season, with additional vehicles joining the fleet for our Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead contract.

Exaktrak technology is installed across all units and continues to prove invaluable – giving our people the tools they need to efficiently manage routes, monitor operations in real time, and maintain a consistently high standard of service.

Econ Engineering has been a trusted partner throughout this process, supplying not only specialist vehicles but also the ongoing technical support and aftercare that enable us to keep the communities we serve moving, whatever the weather.
