Supporting Change 1’s Life

Marlborough Highways has donated 450 jumpers to Change 1’s Life, which is a UK-registered charity that assists people in need across Africa. The clothing will primarily be delivered to communities in Angola, with the items helping to keep adults and children warm during the cold winter months.

On 8 November 2023, Marlborough’s team delivered the jumpers in an all-electric Nissan Townstar van to a site in Brentford, West London. There they met Change 1’s Life’s Managing Director, Edmilson Angelo, who took receipt of the sweaters. With the help of Marlborough volunteers, the clothing was loaded on to a container, alongside other items bound for the west-central coast of Southern Africa. The jumpers of various sizes will be added to gift packages and sent to some of the most remote towns and villages in the country, with some of the items given as Christmas presents.

Change 1’s Life supports people who live in poverty, as well as victims of natural disasters. By working with organisations like Marlborough, they seek to tackle inequality in one of the world’s poorest regions by ensuring everyone has access to food, shelter, clothing and education.

Marlborough’s Social Value Manager, Nula Krawczynski, said, “We are thrilled to be here with Change 1’s Life, helping to load up our jumpers, which will be sent to communities overseas. It’s a privilege to partner with such a fantastic organisation and we are grateful to Edmilson and his team for this opportunity; it will make a real difference.”

Edmilson Angelo, Managing Director, Change 1’s Life added, “We want to bring about practical changes through sustainable solutions, and for us as a small charity, donations from organisations like Marlborough are vital. This is our fourth shipment to the region this year and we are very happy to be able to count on this sort of support.”
