Marlborough Highways is proud to announce that its commitment to developing the next generation of highways professionals has been recognised with Silver accredited membership as part of The 5% Club’s 2024-25 Employer Audit Scheme. The award was celebrated at a special reception hosted at the historic Mansion House in London on 5th December 2024, where Marlborough’s Learning and Development Manager, Paul Haggerty, and Social Value Manager, Nula Krawczynski, accepted the accolade on behalf of the company.
The Silver award highlights Marlborough’s dedication to providing meaningful apprenticeship opportunities, with at least 2.5% of its workforce engaged in structured training roles. Achieving this status followed a rigorous audit process, which reviewed employee data and assessed the company’s practices in supporting skills development. Building on this success, Marlborough is now working towards Gold accreditation, further reinforcing its commitment to workplace learning.
Earlier in November, Paul and Nula also attended The 5% Club’s Annual Employer Audit Symposium at the BT Tower in London, where they joined discussions on the importance of professional growth in addressing skills gaps across industries. The symposium showcased the achievements of participating employers and shared insights into effective training and development practices.
Commenting on the award, Marlborough’s Managing Director, Matthew Revell, said, “Being recognised with Silver accreditation is an excellent milestone for Marlborough Highways and demonstrates our dedication to imparting knowledge, developing skills, and empowering the next generation. We are passionate about equipping people with the tools they need to succeed and ensuring that every member of our team has opportunities to grow their expertise. I’d like to thank Paul, Nula, and everyone involved in making this happen, as well as our incredible apprentices, who bring so much enthusiasm and dedication to our business.”
Mark Cameron OBE, Chief Executive of The 5% Club, added: “We are incredibly proud of the outstanding employers, like Marlborough Highways, who have gone above and beyond to invest in the future of their workforce through a diverse range of ‘earn and learn’ initiatives. Their dedication, especially during these challenging times, deserves to be celebrated. By achieving Silver membership, Marlborough has shown an exceptional commitment to shaping the skills of tomorrow, contributing not only to their business but to the wider economy.”
The recognition follows the launch of Marlborough’s new operational apprenticeships programme earlier in the year, which complements the company’s well-established office-based scheme. The programme provides fully funded placements for individuals to gain hands-on experience in roles across streetlighting, highways maintenance, and traffic management, while studying for a Level 2 qualification. These opportunities are designed to equip apprentices with the confidence, knowledge, and practical skills needed to build long-term careers in the highways sector.
Silver accreditation from The 5% Club highlights Marlborough’s leadership in workforce development. It reinforces the company’s commitment to skills, inclusivity, and diversity, aligning with its vision of creating a motivated workforce ready to meet the challenges of the future.
