What apprenticeships do we offer?

Highways Maintenance apprenticeships

As a Highways Maintenance Apprentice, you’ll work alongside our experienced operatives, learning hand-on skills while helping keep roads and footways safe for the communities we serve. From repairing potholes and replacing bollards to reinstating kerbs and laying footways, you’ll play a real part in keeping people moving safely every day. Highways Maintenance is a Level 2 qualification. 18 MONTHS

Street Lighting apprenticeships

As a Street Lighting Apprentice, you’ll learn how to install, maintain and repair electrical systems across our network to keep public spaces safe and well-lit. From wiring connections and upgrading fixtures to diagnosing faults, the work you do will help create brighter, safer spaces for the public. Street Lighting is a Level 2 qualification. 24 MONTHS

Traffic Management apprenticeships

As a Traffic Management Apprentice, you’ll support a wide range of projects — from everyday roadworks to major events and special occasions — helping create safe, well-managed environments for everyone. Working alongside our experienced teams, you’ll gain handson experience setting up temporary signage, planning diversion routes and supporting safe traffic flow, playing an important role in protecting both road users and our workforce. Traffic Management is a Level 2 qualification. 18 MONTHS

Business Administration apprenticeships

As a Business Administration Apprentice, you’ll work across our teams to support the essential operations that keep our services running smoothly every day. From permitting and performance analysis to coordinating training, there’s plenty of scope to develop value skills, and build confidence in the workplace. Business Administration is a Level 3 qualification. 18 MONTHS

Social Value and Sustainability apprenticeships

As a Social Value and Sustainability Apprentice, you’ll help us deliver initiatives that strengthen communities and reduce environmental impact, supporting projects that make a genuine difference where we work. Whether you’re engaging with schools, tracking carbon data or helping drive greener practices, you’ll play a meaningful role in shaping how we operate and how we give back. Social Value and Sustainability is a Level 4 qualification. 24 MONTHS

Health and Safety apprenticeships

From residential streets to busy arterial routes and our bustling depots, as a Health and Safety Apprentice, you’ll help create safer environments for everyone who works with us. Working both on and off-site, you’ll learn how to identify risks, improve ways of working and support a culture where safety always comes first. Health and Safety is a Level 3 qualification. 18 MONTHS

  • What are the requirements for an apprenticeship?

    The entry requirements for an apprenticeship depend on the level of programme you're applying for: Level 2 – equivalent to GCSE Level 3 – equivalent to A-Level Level 4, 5 and 6 – equivalent to a foundation degree or higher
  • How long can an apprenticeship last?
    +
    The time it takes to complete an apprenticeship can vary. Lower-level courses may take around 12 months, while higher-level programmes can last between three and five years. At the end, you'll graduate with the skills, experience and recognised qualifications your career needs to flourish.
