Hayden Evans joined Marlborough Highways as a Supply Chain and Procurement Apprentice in September 2022. Gaining valuable ‘on the job experience’ during his apprenticeship, Hayden now works as our Procurement Coordinator, onboarding suppliers, managing supply chain logistics, and overseeing the subcontracting process to keep our sites running both efficiently and compliantly.
Apprenticeship
New to the highways sector, Hayden joined the company with prior office experience and a drive to learn. With the full support of the team, he completed his CIPS Level 4 Supply Chain and Procurement Apprenticeship in two years.
Throughout his studies, Hayden benefited from regular catchups with our Learning and Development Manager, and was given access to any additional resources needed to support his progress, earning him a Distinction for his efforts.
Today, that knowledge translates into practical results — supporting the delivery of efficient, compliant and cost-effective projects across London and the South East.
Outstanding work
Since joining Marlborough, Hayden has played a key role in the business’s ongoing success. During a recent ISO 9001 audit, his clear communication and thorough approach were highlighted as strengths, contributing directly to the positive feedback.
Hayden’s commitment to excellence was formally recognised at the 2024 Red Star Awards where he was named Marlborough’s Rising Star — an accolade that celebrates both his standout work and the Distinction earned through his first-class endpoint assessment.

With his level 4 apprenticeship fully complete, Hayden now has his sights set on levels 5 and 6. Next steps that will not only broaden his knowledge of procurement, but also further streamline the way both he and his department work.
